Transform old patterns and emerge into a happier, more centered life.
I approach therapy by offering safety and connection as clients discover limiting beliefs and experiences and how they are impacting their lives in unhelpful ways. I believe thriving is our birthright, and when clients are not, the opportunity to feel heard, understood and held within the container of therapy offers fertile ground for transformation. The goal of therapy is for clients to emerge into more well-being, contentment and joy.
CHERYL REEVES, PhD, LCSW
My journey to becoming a therapist is rooted in my path of self-discovery and healing, which I use to augment my professional training. I studied Social Work at Stony Brook University, leaning into my deep commitment to social justice, and eventually earning a doctorate. In 2019, I moved back to my native California after living in New York for 24 years. I gained my clinical training and experience in educational settings and community mental health at Petaluma Health Center and Petaluma People Services Center.
I am deeply interested in mindfulness-based modalities such as mindful self-compassion and non-violent communication. My style is warm, calm and appropriately direct. I believe in helping clients understand their history and current behaviors, and draw upon cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy among others, using clients’ existing strengths and resilience.
